DOYLESTOWN TO HOST SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY
FOR HOLIDAY SHOPPERS
Doylestown will be celebrating Small Business Saturday on November 24, 2012. The Merchants of Doylestown will be encouraging people to put away the leftover turkey and come spend the day in their great little town. It’s an excellent way for people to avoid the chaos of the malls, while receiving the individualized personal service that sets small businesses apart from the “big boxes”.
Many shops will offer special events, refreshments, and family fun (including Santa), without the need to wake up ridiculously early. Downtown Doylestown has some of the best owner operated small business retail shops in the country, which has many consumers preferring to “Shop Small” this holiday season, and throughout the year. There certainly has been a bigger push this year through print, radio, TV, and social media to promote Small Business Saturday, and the Merchants of Doylestownhope you will join them to see how they've helped give Doylestown a "Small town feel, with the big city appeal."
Merchants of Doylestown hoping to "Fill the Bus" on First Friday
to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy
The Merchants of Doylestown, in partnership with the DBCA, are working with the Doylestown Food Bank and DART bus program to help families in need by hosting an event to “Fill the Bus” on Friday November 2, 2012, from 5:30pm-9pm. A DART bus will be parked at State Street & Main Street during this time, and the general public is being encouraged to help those less fortunate in Bucks County by literally trying to “Fill the Bus” with non-perishable food items. The main items needed by the food bank are: Soup, gravy, canned meat/fish, coffee, chili, stewed/whole tomatoes, and
ready-to-eat shelf stable meals.
The Merchants of Doylestown are promoting this to their customers, friends, and families as a way for the “Community to help the Community”, with so many people in Bucks County still suffering from the affects of Hurricane Sandy. The merchants are also encouraging any children who were unable to celebrate Halloween on October 31st to visit their shops in costume for some “Trick or Treat” fun this First Friday.
